Spring/primavera 2021

Spring 2021 was eventful! From March 23 to March 27, we hosted three events and had a raffle! On Tuesday, Joe Demarest from C3 came by on zoom to talk to us about how to write a resume. On Wednesday, Maya Danner talked about her experiences with interviewing for jobs where she needed to use her Spanish. She gave us tips on how to best employ our Spanish skills when in an interview and how to find jobs that would either require or prefer those with Spanish speaking abilities. On Thursday, we had a panel of three wonderful speakers, Paloma Celis Carbajal, Elaine Martin Simmons, and Sandra Terra, zoom with us about their experiences using their Spanish skills in their careers.

In April, Jose Ávila performedThe Trouble with My Name on Zoom, which was made possible by the Julie Steib Fund, the Spanish Program and Coespanol Club at Coe College! It was an autobiographical journey of a man who moves between cultures to provide a fascinating perspective of American Latinos who struggle to dispel misconceptions about their identity and place in the world.

Fall/otoño 2020

This semester brought challenges from Covid-19 as we could not meet in person, but we were lucky to have some great events take place over Zoom! Professor René Izquierdo from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee spoke on Zoom on "A Journey Through Cuban Music," or "Viaje a Través de la Música Cubana." Coespañol also put on a showing of Disney Pixar's Coco.
